Brights are atheists or non-theists (like non-theistic agnostics). Not only do Brights not believe in God and other gods, they also do not believe in reincarnation, ghosts, fortune tellers, supernatural souls, or other supernaturalism.

SDNC-Brights have been meeting monthly over dinner since September 2004. The group adopted a set of bylaws at its February 28th meeting.

The name "Brights" was chosen to provide a "brighter," more positive image than atheism, which often is perceived as negative.
