What is ethics? How do we know right from wrong? What does it even mean to say that some action is "right" or "wrong"? Bertrand Russell, one of the greatest philosophers and humanists of the twentieth century, grappled with questions like these all his life. Peter Stone, a longtime member of the Bertrand Russell Society, will discuss Russell's views on the nature of ethics. Join us for this interesting and important presentation. Peter Stone is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Stanford University. He has been a member of the Bertrand Russell Society (BRS) for twenty years, and was a founding member of the Bay Area Russell Set (BARS), a local chapter of the BRS.
“ An interesting and informative presentation on the ethics of Russell. His personal support of emotivism as a basis for the understanding of ethics was particularly interesting. Welcome to Andra Miller, the Ethical Leader of the New York Society. Refreshments and conversation after the Platform included a birthday celebration (with vegan cake) for Ben Wade. ”
